PhD. Health Policy & Health Systems Requirements

  1. Description: The requirements for graduation for Ph.D in Health Policy & Health Systems include a minimum workload of 48 credit units of which 12 credit units are for the thesis, 30 credit units for the course work and 6 credit units for seminar. The course work is to be done within the first year of the programme. A full time PhD programme runs for eight semesters.   2. Eligibility/Entry Requirements: The relevant provisions of the Regulations Governing Higher degrees and Diplomas of Ebonyi State University, for Ph.D shall apply. The ancillary requirements given here are specific for Ph.D in Health Policy & Health Systems.
    1. a. To qualify for admission into the Ph.D. programme in Health Policy & Health Systems, a candidate must have an M.Sc. degree in Health Policy & Health Systems or in a relevant Health Policy & Systems discipline, from Ebonyi State University or a recognized University. The quality of the M.Sc. degree as determined from the academic transcript must meet the standard stipulated in EBSU Post graduate Regulation. Candidate with a Master Degree in the relevant area of specialization in Health Policy & Health Systems must have CGPA of at least 4.0 on a 5-point scale or 60% weight average from a recognized University in Nigeria or other countries.
    2. A three-year post bachelor degree working experience in the health sector or related recognized organizations, or educational institutions (as in the case of health researchers with evidence of involvement in health-related research).
    3. Successfully undertaking and passing the written and oral entry interview to be conducted by the African Institute for Health Policy & Health Systems Studies, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
